A couple weeks ago we had a show at this place called Bliss. It was going to be super fun. We had a sound check and it sounded super good. Then when it was time for us to go on I got no sound out of my bass. So then I used a different amp still it didn't work. Then I changed the battery on my bass. Still didn't work! Then I used this other guys bass and cord. We still ended up having a good show. Just that one technical difficulty. It turned out that my brand new cord was junk and didn't work So we returned it.
Tuesday, we had a show at a place called Next Door. I was not being responsible and I didn't make sure that there was enough equipment for us to borrow. When we got there it turned out ok because the other band let us borrow there stuff. But the drum set didn't have a floor tom! This is strange because everyone has a floor tom. Except this guy! So the three of us got on our phones and tried to find ourselves a floor tom. We called everyone and waited then we had a magnificent idea. We would ask the place that we practice at if we could borrow theirs. It was late and I didn't think anyone would be in the office. But there was! They said yes and Jacque's awesome husband went and picked it up for us since we still hadn't had our sound check and we had to go on in an hour. But it turned out ok they liked our music and said that they wanted us back and they wanted us to play at another venue. That was good because we thought we had blown our chance.
Last night we played at bliss again. I made sure that there was equipment for us to use in advance. I am learning from my mistakes. When I tried to use the bass amp it kept on cutting out and so we ended up going through the system and it worked ok. Then we found out that there was only one cimbal stand! Cris our drummer needs two. No one had another cimbal stand amoungst four bands! So we started to look around and me and Jacque's husband Magivered a cimbal stand from a big stick in the corner, a snare stand, a screw and some masking tape. Then it was off balance and Cris was afraid that it would fall over so we took Jacque's purse and rapped it up on the other side and it worked perfect. The only other problem with that night was that Jacque kept on getting shocked by the mic on her lips! Other than that it was a great night. We got a good responce from the crowd.
